Description

Microsoft is hiring for a Software Engineering role in Bangalore, Karnataka, within the Azure Data organization.

The role is part of the Azure Data Analytics team, which builds core analytics experiences in Microsoft Fabric across Data Warehouse, Data Engineering, Data Science, AI, and Power BI. The Data Engineering One Infra team develops and maintains infrastructure powering Microsoft Fabric Spark, Azure Synapse Spark, and Cosmos Analytics at massive scale.

The engineer will learn and contribute to extensible and maintainable software, debugging, testing, design options, code reviews, security practices, feature integration, deployment, and customer-facing service support.

Responsibilities

Learn and begin writing extensible and maintainable code using established coding patterns and best practices.
Assist with debugging and testing applications.
Proactively identify issues using logs, telemetry, and automated code-analysis tools under guidance.
Support development and testing of design options while learning system dependencies, performance, scalability, and security fundamentals.
Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and learn coding standards.
Begin reviewing peer code as experience develops.
Incorporate AI tools responsibly across the software development lifecycle and review AI-generated changes.
Support security best practices, including code invariants, security testing, monitoring, and compliance activities.
Collaborate with partner teams to support feature integration, end-to-end testing, and smooth deployment.
Escalate issues when necessary.
Participate in on-call support to help resolve service degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

Requirements

Associate's Degree or Apprenticeship in Computer Science or a related technical discipline AND 6+ months of work or internship experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline with proven coding experience in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
