Description

Cognizant is hiring a Software Engineer in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The role is focused on C and Linux development for an NSE-related environment and requires working from the Mumbai customer office every working day.

The position involves Unix/Linux application development, debugging, multithreading and multiprocessing, inter-process communication, socket programming, data structures, process synchronization, and low-latency performance improvement. Exposure to trading or real-time applications is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Develop applications using C and Linux/Unix environments.
Work with GCC for C development and GDB for debugging.
Develop and troubleshoot multithreaded and multiprocessing applications.
Implement inter-process communication using shared memory, queues, and file handling.
Develop TCP/IP and UDP socket programming solutions.
Work with data structures including trees, linked lists, and hash structures.
Apply process synchronization techniques.
Debug Linux applications using appropriate debugging tools.
Work on low-latency programming and performance improvement.
Use version control as part of the software development process.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Work from the Mumbai customer office every working day.

Requirements

Minimum 1+ years of development experience in C.
Good understanding of Unix/Linux.
Excellent understanding of pointers.
Strong understanding of inter-process communication (IPC) in Unix, including shared memory.
Strong knowledge of multithreading and multiprocessing.
Experience with socket programming.
Understanding of data structures and process synchronization.
Experience with Linux application debugging tools such as GDB.
Sound knowledge of version control.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good client interaction skills.
Knowledge of shell script development is a plus.
Exposure to trading and/or real-time applications is a plus.
Work from the Mumbai customer office is mandatory; no work-from-home or hybrid model is available.
