Description

Eppendorf India Private Limited is hiring an Apprentice - Service Engineer in Chennai. The role supports the smooth and compliant operation of Eppendorf's pipette service and calibration activities.

The apprentice will work with incoming pipettes, service registration, inspection, decontamination, calibration documentation, dispatch processes, and service records. The role provides practical exposure to laboratory equipment servicing, calibration processes, technical administration, quality procedures, and coordination with Service, Customer Care, Logistics, and Quality teams.

Responsibilities

Support pipette service and calibration activities according to established procedures.
Register incoming pipettes in the E365 system with accurate customer, instrument, and service information.
Inspect received pipettes and verify instrument serial numbers against service request forms.
Carry out or coordinate required decontamination activities following safety, quality, and laboratory procedures.
Support calibration workflows and coordinate calibration report generation.
Check calibration documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Apply calibration stickers following successful calibration.
Prepare and print service reports and organize service-related documents.
Prepare delivery challans and dispatch documentation for completed service orders.
Maintain accurate service records and identify discrepancies or missing information.
Escalate damaged instruments, serial-number mismatches, and documentation issues.
Coordinate with Service, Customer Care, Logistics, Quality, and other internal teams.
Support accurate and timely customer service order completion and dispatch.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Laboratory Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Fresh graduates with an interest in laboratory operations are encouraged to apply.
Basic understanding of laboratory equipment, pipette identification, serial-number verification, and service documentation.
Experience or exposure to laboratory equipment servicing, calibration support, technical administration, service coordination, logistics, or related operational roles is desirable.
Knowledge of pipettes or other laboratory instruments is preferred.
Experience using digital systems or enterprise applications for data entry, service registration, order processing, or record maintenance is beneficial.
Experience with E365 or similar service-management systems is an advantage.
Understanding of decontamination, safe handling, and established laboratory procedures.
Ability to prepare, organize, and maintain accurate technical and administrative records.
Clear and professional verbal and written communication.
Ability to manage multiple service orders, documentation requirements, and dispatch deadlines.
Strong organization, problem-solving, follow-through, and attention to detail.
Ability to identify discrepancies before they affect service completion or customer delivery.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and cross-functional environment.
